Denys Lisovets is a Ukrainian cinematographer and visual storyteller working between Paris and Toronto.      Born in Ukraine, Denys has built a diverse and compelling portfolio across projects of various scales and genres — from auteur-driven fiction and documentary films to commercials and music videos.

      After completing art school, he began his career in 2016 as a documentary and still photographer on set, and has been working as a cinematographer since 2019.      His visual style blends poetic realism with technical precision, shaped by a refined sense of light, texture, and silence. Influenced by documentary photography, painting, and classic cinema, Denys approaches every story with a deep philosophical sensitivity — aiming to reveal the true essence of the script and the idea behind it.

      He studied in Kyiv and Paris, including at the prestigious La Fémis film school in France. During pre-production, he searches for the rhythm of the idea through dialogue with the director and creative team, collaborating closely across departments while developing visual strategies using Unreal Engine, lighting/ camera schematics, and 3D previsualizations. On set, however, he allows room for spontaneity and creative discovery, trusting the inner rhythm of each scene.

      Denys is a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) and actively works internationally, bringing to each project a distinct visual language, cultural sensitivity, and technical mastery.
